The debut CD from Canberra based Leisa Keen, whose considerable talents encompass being a singer, pianist, arranger, composer, accompanist, vocal coach, teacher and musical director. It's a delightful mixture of jazz standards and fine renditions of some great show tunes.
In his review of Leisa's CD on 23 September, 2005, Michael Foster of the Canberra Times said:
"There is emotion in hearing Keen's pure voicing of Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans? It is a reading compassionate to the circumstances, unforeseen as they were. Keen is right on top of presentation, in control of voice, mood and piano in this selection of works, ranging widely through styles, ages and deliveries. The 10 musician backing group brings together the multiplicity of talent that blesses the many streams of the city's musical river. The session jaunts through such works as the opener, Do Something, and 42nd Street, chuckles through Bring On The Men, and plucks at the heartstrings in Fifty Percent, raunchy or sentimental, or any sentiment in between."

Leisa Keen has been involved in musical theatre and cabaret for over 15 years, and has musically and vocally directed, and performed in over 40 shows.
After training in classical piano for 12 years, Leisa went on to study jazz vocals at the Canberra School of Music, under the direction of Gery Scott, for 6 years. It was here that she also gained the valuable writing and arranging skills that have assisted in her musical direction and performance, making her one of Canberra and Sydney’s most sought after accompanists and musical directors.
Leisa performed the role of Lucy Harris in the Australian premiere production of "Jekyll & Hyde" playing opposite Donald Cant as Jekyll/Hyde. This performance lead to her winning a CAT award for Best Actress in a Musical.
Onstage credits include the "Old Time Music Hall" for Canberra Repertory, The Plant in "Little Shop of Horrors" for SUPA Productions, & most recently; "Hot Mikado", "ACT 2", "One Enchanted Evening", "Opening On Broadway", "Red Hot & Cole" & "Sensationally Sondheim" for the Canberra Philharmonic Society. Leisa also played the Fairy Godmother in "Cinderella", the Dolly Parton Pig in "The 3 Little Pigs", and Wishy Washy and the Genie in "Aladdin". She has also made several appearances with the Royal Military College Duntroon Band, as a soloist at the popular Music at Midday concert series.
Leisa recently returned from a successful tour with Todd McKenney, (star of “The Boy From Oz” ) performing with him in his cabaret show “Feeling Myself Again” , as his musical director and backing vocalist. Leisa has also had the privilege of working with other artists such as Simon Gallaher and Jon English in Essgee’s production of "HMS Pinafore" in 1997, and again in early 2002 in "The Pirates Of Penzance".
Leisa performs around Canberra and Sydney as a piano vocalist in various venues and with a rock band or two, including her own band “The Leisa Keen Trio” , rock and jazz duo “Keen and Eager”, newly formed “Lounge Sweet”, and the "Black Mountain Jazz Band".
